Witch's Brew Game Level Two

Here is a great game around Halloween Time.: Witch's Brew Game.

I plan on picking the cards from a cauldron and then using a witch's finger to count and point to the rhythms.  The witch's finger is just a fake witch finger you can find at a party store or Halloween store.

Witch’s Brew: Players draw cards and perform the rhythm on each card.  When the Witch Card is drawn they get a little prize: sticker, candy, Halloween treat.
You can keep adding on to the cards you have drawn, making an extended rhythm.
You can clap the cards, perform them on a rhythm instrument or piano.

Another idea is to use some Halloween words to say the rhythm.  For example, a triplet could be "Halloween" and eighth notes could be "Pumpkin" or "Mummy".  I have more ideas in the directions on page four.

Fire Safety Songs

Five Little Firefighters
Five little firefighters sit very still
Until they saw a fire on top of a hill
The first one ring the bell, ding dong
The second pulls his big boots on
The third one climbs on the truck right away
The fourth one joins him, no one can wait
The fifth one drives the truck to the fire
The big yellow flames go higher and higher
Whoo-oo Whoo-oo Hear the fire truck say
As all cars get out of the way
Shhhh goes the water from the fire hose spout
And quicker than a wink the fire is out.
I’m a Firefighter: (Sung to Mulberry Bush)
Come let us ride the fire truck The fire truck, the fire truck
Oh we can ride the fire truck Whoo! whoo Whoo!
This is the way I pull on my boots Pull on my boots, pull on my boots
This is the way I pull on my boots I’m a fire fighter
This is the way I drive the fire truck Drive the fire truck, drive the fire truck
This is the way I drive the fire truck I’m a fire fighter
This is the way I fasten the hose,  Fasten the hose, fasten the hose
This is the way I fasten the hose I’m a fire fighter
This is the way I squirt the water Squirt the water, squirt the water
This the way I squirt the water I’m a fire fighter
This is the way I climb the ladder Climb the ladder, climb the ladder
This is the way I climb the ladder I’m a fire fighter.
What do you do when there’s a fire? (Sung to What shall we do with the drunken sailor)
What do you do when there’s a fire? What do you do when there’s a fire?
What do you do when there’s a fire?
Dial 9 1 1
What do you do when plan for fire? What do you do when plan for fire?
What do you do when plan for fire?
Have a fire drill
What do you do if you’re on fire? What do you do if you’re on fire?
What do you do if you’re on fire?
Stop, drop and roll
What do you do if you find matches? What do you do if you find matches?
What do you do if you find matches?
Give them to a grown up
Who comes in a truck if there’s a fire? Who comes in a truck if there’s a fire?
Who comes in a truck if there’s a fire?
It’s the fireman

Fire Safety Song (Sung to the Farmer and the Dell)
My fire truck is red My fire truck is red
Hi- ho to the fire we go
My fire truck is red
The smoke detector rings The smoke detector rings
Hi-ho to the fire we go
The smoke detector rings
Stop, drop and roll Stop, drop and roll
Hi-ho to the fire we go
Stop, drop and roll
The water puts out the fire The water puts out the fire
Hi-ho to the fire we go
The water puts out the fire
What happens if there is a fire? (Sung to Bingo)
What happens if there is a fire?
Do you know what to do?
Get out, get out quick Get out, get out quick Get out, get out quick
Stay very low and go, GO!
What happens if there is a fire?
Do you know what to do?
Stay out, don’t go back Stay out, don’t go back Stay out, don’t go back
Don’t go back in the house NO!

The fire bell rings and down the pole they go
Jump in the fire truck, Hurry down the street
Climb up the ladder, Feel the fire’s heat
Five brave fire fighters, Put the fire out.
Hip Hip Hooray All the people shout
I’m a little firefighter (Sung to I’m a little teapot)
I’m a little firefighter dressed in red
I wear a fire helmet on my head
I hurry to the fire and give a shout
With a burst of water the fire is out
I’m a little firefighter on the go
Here is my helmet, here is my hose
When I see a fire hear me shout

UNO: Colored Leaves Version

I created a UNO Game, using staff cards printed on colored leaves.  It is played like the original UNO game, except you match note names: A,B,C,D,E,F,G, instead of numbers.  Middle C can match Treble C, and so on.  A fun way to reinforce those all important note names.

Leaves in the Fall Songs

Leaves are Falling  Sung to "Are you sleeping?"
Red leaves falling, Red leaves falling   (wiggle fingers down to the ground)
On the ground, on the ground   (Hit floor 3 times)Autumn time is coming, autumn time is coming   (Clap 3 times)All around, all around   (Spread arms around in circle)

Substitute Red for the fall colors: Orange, yellow, brown.

Idea #1: You can cut out leaves from paper and pretend they are falling
Idea #2: Use scarves to pretend with as you sing about the leaves falling
Idea #3: Have leaves cut out and spread out on the floor or table. Tell the children they have to find the leaf you sing about it the song

Leaves are Falling  Sung to “Jingle Bells”
Leaves are falling, Leaves are falling
One fell on my nose
Leaves are falling, Leaves are falling
One fell on my toes
Leaves are falling, Leaves are falling
One fell on my head
Leaves are falling, Leaves are falling
Yellow, orange and red
This is the way Sung to “Here We Go Round the Mulberry Bush”
This is the way we rake the leaves, rake the leaves, rake the leaves
This is the way we rake the leaves at Autumn time
Throw the leaves
Jump in the leaves
Five little leaves
Five little leaves in the autumn breeze
Tumbled and fluttered down from the trees
The 1st leaf said “I am red
I shall rest in a flower bed”
The 2nd leaf said “I am yellow
I’m a happy-go-lucky fellow”
The 3rd leaf said “I am green
I change color so you shall see”
The 4th leaf said “Orange am I
Brightly colored I will fly”
The 5th leaf said “I am brown
I shall blow all over town”
The leaves on the trees Sung to “The Wheels on the Bus”
The leaves on the trees are changing colors
Changing colors, changing colors
The leaves on the trees are changing colors
All around town
The wind makes the leaves go “Swish, swish, swish”
Then the leaves come tumbling down
The leaves on the ground make a crackling sound
We’ll rake them up into a pile
It Must Be Autumn  Sung to “When the Saints go Marching In”
Oh, when the leaves fall off the trees
Oh, when the leaves fall off the trees
We know it must be autumn
When the leaves fall off the trees
When the wind begins to blow
When the leaves are changing colors
When the squirrel gathers his food
When there’s a chill out in the air
When we put our jackets on

Candy Match Up

Here is a fun worksheet for primer levels that have students match the notes to the missing letters.  Download to print, for some reason it is not linking up right to print straight from this page.
